Editing...

When editing I had to remove the original sound from the video before putting the non-digetic music on.
I used a variety of video effects for a reason. At this part of the weighing scales I used peephole to draw focus on the scales as this represented the word "body" in the lyrics. I used the video effect of making the speed faster to suite the pace of the music.

Changing the video to watercolour took a long while because of so many different clips and having to apply it to each one. I chose the have the whole video in watercolour as it brought out the colour of the objects which is a motif/theme throughout my video and also it is meant to make the audience aware that this is just created for entertainment and does not have a storyline. The effect also creates a lighthearted mood that blends well with the lighthearted upbeat music.

Audience Feedback

I asked a number of people, mainly my target audience which is young females what they thought of the video and the advertisements. I did this through a questionnaire and the results came out quite successful...
All of the answers came out positive, they thought NME would give a digipak as it is the same genre and the video reflected the song. And my target audience seems to fit the age people think they would be.
Feedback is important to realize if there is any changes in the video that needs changing and if it is suitable.

Susbidary task 2

Poster for NME magazine

I had to use three different photographs to create this, and then i lasso tooled each photograph and created a new layer and put it all together with photoshop. Then I added the text called "Indie Ladies" which is the album title. The photograph was a still frame from my actual video.
I made it look like she was walking to suggest there is a lot of movement in my video and also it is eye catching as it looks like the person is coming towards you which draws attention from the audience.
I "placed" the digipak at the bottom to give a visual of what the digipak looks like and I made "out now" in bold font because it tells the audience that it is released now.

Subsidary task

Final design for digipak
Using a template I downloaded from Disc Wizards I created my final design for my digipak.
Each part of the digipak required photoshop.
The front cover (Middle Top)
I first of all decided on the photographs I would use for my front cover out of a list of option I previously posted. I also used my music video to capture images for my digipak by pausing the video and creating a still frame because the audience expects some of these images to be related to the music videos.
Before creating this collage of photos I had to adjust exposure and lightness and contrast as the photographs framed from the video were too dark.
The photograph with the teapot on the front cover I changed the texture of it.
All of these different photographs had to be roughly lasso tooled as I wanted to create a collage effect like the Kate Nash cd cover but hers had graphics.
I used NME logo as the digipak is free in a magazine and my audience research made it clear that the people that listen to Laura Marling and Kate Nash would read NME magazine. Plus the magazine aims at the genre of indie.

Promotional music videos

Promotional music video's generally only show parts/ clips of the full music video as it persuades the intended audience to buy the track or music video rather than giving them it for free.
So I will create two or three clips of music video's alongside a digipak to advertise the video's and a magazine advert of the Digipak.
Music magazines usually give free Digipaks or free CDs every so often to promote different artists or upcoming artists. For example NME, Kerrang, Rock Sound, The Clash etc.
Therefore I will have two or three different female artists rather than keep to one song by one artist.

NRS social grade

My target audience will be C2, D or E in the classification of NRS social grade as the younger ages would be unemployed but on the other hand there is many semi-skilled workers that read NME
For my main product it would be the same as the genre of music is simple so appeals to Low-middle class people.

Location shots

For my Kate Nash music video I've decided to film it in my house and backgarden because it sets a casual tone to the audience like the song.

Storyboard for Kate Nash music video

This is my storyboard for my Kate Nash music video. It helps me be prepared what I will film, what angles I will film etc. I have chosen the video to be based on lyrics and objects/ imagery

Poster Examples

Posters come in a variety and differ when it comes to genre for example font and artwork.
These two examples show the different in music styles, one of them is more electric drum and bass and the other is indie pop. The font on the poster for The Prodigy is jolty and huge capital letters in a bright font which represents the fast loud beats of their music style where as two door cinema club have gone with white capital letters. White usual represents innocence which links to having the image of a cat but also shows the innocence of their music, their music is quite light hearted.
The conventions of posters are obvious but some may be different. Having a photo of the album cover or just a random photo, bold font on the artist or album, tour dates/ release date of album, logo or producer.

Costume

The costume of characters in a music video tends to be laid back style i.e jeans, tshirt but Kate Nash has her own style of costume in her videos.

They tend to be "doll-like" and bright as she is more on the pop-indie scale of genre.

An example of her costume...

Here is my costume I have decided to use...

I have used this because it is similar to her style, I used a doll like dress and a small bow because she does not wear much other than a simple doll dress.

Laura Marlings style is usually characters that have dull clothing such as her video The Rambling man or this one where the artist just wears a hoodie.

In my Laura Marling video I got megan (actress) to wear a scarf and hoodie/jacket because it is a similar style but also in the lyrics (even though it is more based on storyline) a jacket and coat is mentioned.
